How We Learn: English Through Films and TV Series

Learning with movies means no classic textbooks.

  • My method is simple: Watch → Analyze → Practice.
At home: You watch the episode/movie with subtitles, write down new words, and do writing tasks.
At the lesson: We discuss what you watched, analyze dialogues, check your notes, practice vocabulary in conversation, and work on grammar.
During speaking practice I correct mistakes in a shared file, so you see the right grammar and pronunciation immediately. Each month I analyze your progress

  • I use a combination of authentic materials and signature study guides. You’ll work with:

    ● Original subtitles/scripts with vocabulary notes
    ● Glossaries for each Movies and TV series
    ● Signature grammar guide Secret of Algorithm
    ● Speaking tasks based on dialogues
    ● Writing tasks inspired by characters and stories

    For each Student I create:

    ● Personal Study Plan
    ● Progress tracking sheets and personalized feedback
    ● Recommendations for movies and series to watch between lessons

  • The same words and expressions repeat across episodes of TV show or a group of movie with similar topic.

So, after one module, you’ll remember and confidently use about 600 new active words in real conversations.

    Calculation:
If you watch 30 episodes of TV Show × 25 min and target ~20 active words/ep, that’s ~600.

If you watch 7 movies (average 110–120 minutes each) and target ~80–90 active words per movie, that’s ~560–630 active words.

  • Definitely for you
    — you need practical lessons with a strong focus on speaking — you need practical skills for travel, work, study— you have a favorite TV series (or several) that you want to analyze line by line
    Not for you
    — you are looking for group classes or budget lessons— you need purely academic English and theory only— you are not ready or unable to dedicate time to watching and listening to authentic English between lessons

FAQ

  • I offer practical spoken English courses based on TV series and carefully selected film collections, tailored to different language levels from Pre-Intermediate to Advanced.

  • Each module (based on one TV series or a group of movies) includes 24–30 lessons, which usually takes 3–6 months to complete.
You can choose a schedule that works for you — from 1 to 3 lessons per week.

  • A trial lesson is your first step to become my student. Before it, we meet online for a free 30-minute consultation to check your English level, choose a movie or TV show, and review materials. Then you get a free 60-minute trial lesson where we watch, discuss, and practice English using real dialogues from the chosen film.

  • You can check your level during the trial lesson, where I assess your speaking, listening, and vocabulary in a relaxed conversation.

  • Yes! During the lesson, I write down every correction in a shared file that works like a whiteboard. You immediately see the correct spelling, grammar, or pronunciation. At the end of each month, I analyze this file, identify the mistakes you make most often, and prepare extra tasks to help you improve exactly where you need it.

  • For anyone who loves movies, needs English for exams or work, or wants to restart learning and speak with confidence.

  • Yes! You can suggest your own movie or series, and I will prepare all study materials for it.

  • Homework is highly recommended. I usually give small, practical tasks like watching a part of movie and write down new words to help you practice between lessons.

  • I explain grammar using real dialogues from movies and TV shows, so every rule is connected to natural speech. In addition, I’ve created unique grammar guides: The Secrets of Algorithm and English Grammar with Toby the Cat.

  • Don’t worry it happens naturally! The same words and expressions repeat across episodes, so by the end of the first season you’ll remember about 80% of them without extra effort. And to make it even easier, I provide quizzes and custom glossaries that help you practice and lock in the vocabulary.

  • Yes, I can! I have a list of carefully selected movies and TV shows that match common exam topics such as education, environment, technology, health, travel, and culture. We’ll use them to practice vocabulary, listening, and speaking. For best results, I recommend combining our lessons with a certified exam-preparation course at an official testing center.

  • Yes, absolutely! I have special materials and carefully selected movies that help you practice interview vocabulary, common questions, and confident communication. Even a few lessons can make a big difference in how prepared you feel.
