Hi, I’m Olena Chepurna — an award-winning screenwriter, linguist, and English teacher with 17 years of experience.
When I was creating these courses, I had only one goal in mind: to teach students real, everyday English as it is spoken by native speakers, so they can communicate confidently while traveling and working abroad.
Each course is based a TV series or a group of movies, sorted by levels from pre-intermediate to advanced.
My knowledge of scriptwriting helps me analyze scripts in detail and integrate this analysis into unique workbooks for movies/TV series.
The standard course is divided into modules (1 module = 24–30 lessons) that takes 3–6 months, depending on whether you have one or two lessons per week.
The express course consists of 1–10 individually structured lessons, each focusing on quick preparation for presentations, interviews, conferences, or other important events.
My teaching approach
My method is simple: Watch → Analyze → Practice.
At home: You watch the episode/movie with subtitles, write down new words, and complete exercises.
At the lesson: We discuss what you watched, analyze dialogues, check your notes, practice vocabulary in conversation, and work on grammar.
During speaking practice I correct mistakes in a shared file, so you see the right grammar and pronunciation immediately. Each month I analyze your progress and give tasks focused on your real needs.
Result
After one module, you’ll confidently use about 600 new active words in real conversations, making your speech more natural and fluent.

What I Expect from a Student
The most important thing is that we’re on the same page, working together toward your progress.● Trust the process: real learning takes time, and we’ll move step by step.● Be open: if something doesn’t work, we can always change the movie, materials, or pace.● Don’t compare yourself to others: everyone learns differently, and progress looks unique for each person.● Choose what you enjoy: pick a movie or TV series you genuinely like, because motivation drives success.● Do your homework: without it, results are impossible.● Stick to the schedule: consistency is the key to making English a natural part of your life.
What makes my lessons different is my personality and the real connection I build with my students. The real magic happens when a student feels comfortable, understood, and motivated.
How I became a teacher
My journey began in 2007, when I started working as a technical translator and English tutor. In 2012, while living in the USA, I developed my own teaching system, which later grew into an English school in Ukraine. From 2014 to 2024, the school became a place where hundreds of students improved their English. When I eventually had to close it, I didn’t give up on teaching. I continue to work with students individually, keeping my method alive.
In 2020, a new chapter opened for me — screenwriting. It all started with an idea for an English-teaching sitcom inspired by Extra. After completing several screenwriting courses, I've got so many ideas for new stories. Over the last five years, I have written six feature-length spec scripts ready for production. My screenplay Wish Granting Factory has already received international recognition, winning awards at the Best Script Award (London) and the Chicago Script Awards (USA).
Now I combine both of my passions: teaching and writing. I continue to create original workbooks and courses based on movies and TV series, helping students not just learn English but live it through stories, dialogues, and characters. Alongside teaching, I’m actively building my screenwriting career: pitching my scripts, preparing new projects, and working toward international collaborations.
Looking ahead, my plan is to expand my English with Movies courses internationally, publish my learning materials, and eventually offer them as a franchise. As a writer, my goal is to bring my screenplays to the big screen, share my stories with a global audience, and one day walk the red carpet with a film I’ve written.
Discover the secrets of mastering English: movies and TV shows as your learning tool.My goal is to show that learning a language can be interesting, creative, and effective — not a dry academic process.

How much time does it take to speak English confidently?
On average, 1 level takes about 6 months if you study twice a week.
For example:
If you’re at A2 level (pre-intermediate), we can take the sitcom Alf as your main course. With regular lessons twice a week, you’ll see real progress and move up a level in about 6 months — gaining the confidence to speak and understand English in everyday situations.
If you’re at B1 level (Intermediate):We can take a sitcom like Friends or Modern Family. With two lessons per week, you’ll move to B2 (Upper-Intermediate) in about 6–8 months. At this stage, you’ll: speak more fluently and naturally, understand movies and series without subtitles, feel confident in conversations at work, while traveling, or with native speakers.
If you’re at B2 level (Upper-Intermediate):We can take a drama like Suits or The Good Wife. With two lessons per week, you’ll reach C1 (Advanced) in about 8–10 months.
At this stage, you’ll: speak English confidently in professional settings, write and present your ideas clearly, understand complex movies, series, and articles without support, sound more natural and persuasive in discussions.
Why do you teach using only movies?
I prefer this method because movies provide 100% immersion in the language environment, especially if the student does not have the opportunity to study, live in an English-speaking country, or constantly communicate with native speakers.
What will I be able to learn in 24–30 lessons
One season of a series (about 30 episodes × 25 minutes) gives you incredible progress:
If you watch 30 episodes × 25 min and target ~20 active words/ep, that’s ~600 exposures.
With ~80% natural retention, expect ≈480 active words remembered in 6 months (estimate varies by student).
Active words analysis
In conversational sitcoms like Modern Family, most new words are everyday expressions, slang, and phrasal verbs — the kind of English you use in casual conversations, travel, or daily life.
In professional dramas like The Good Wife or House of Cards, vocabulary is more formal: legal, business, and political terms you’ll need for meetings, negotiations, and professional communication.
In both cases, words repeat across episodes, so you remember them naturally — without forced memorization.
Slang
In conversational sitcoms (like Friends or Modern Family), you learn casual slang people use with friends, family, and colleagues in daily life — expressions that make your speech sound natural.
In professional dramas (like The Good Wife or House of Cards), you pick up workplace slang, legal jargon, and political catchphrases — the insider language professionals actually use in meetings, negotiations, and debates.
Idioms
In conversational sitcoms (like Modern Family), you meet idioms connected to daily life — family, work, love, and humor — that help you sound more natural in everyday conversations.
In professional dramas (like The Good Wife or House of Cards), you encounter idioms used in business, law, and politics — phrases that make your speech more persuasive and professional.
Phrasal Verbs
In conversational sitcoms (like Friends or Modern Family), you practice everyday phrasal verbs such as pick up, hang out, figure out — the kind you need in daily conversations.
In professional dramas (like The Good Wife or House of Cards), you learn more formal or workplace phrasal verbs like carry out, deal with, point out — the ones often used in business, law, and negotiations.
Grammar structures
In conversational sitcoms (like Modern Family), you naturally practice grammar for everyday speech: Present Perfect, Present Continuous, “going to,” simple questions, and short answers.
In professional dramas (like The Good Wife or House of Cards), you focus on structures for formal communication: Past Simple, Present Perfect, Passive Voice, Conditionals, and complex sentence patterns.
Each series highlights the grammar you actually need in its context — so rules turn into real speech, not abstract theory.
Correct pronunciation/accents
Through movies and TV series, you hear English the way it is really spoken in different countries. We work with British, American, Canadian, and Australian accents, so you’ll notice that even one word can have several correct variants of pronunciation. This helps you understand speakers from different backgrounds and choose the accent you prefer for yourself.
What materials do you use?
I use a combination of authentic materials and carefully designed study guides to keep every lesson practical and engaging. You’ll work with:
Movie & TV Show Scripts: real dialogues to improve listening, speaking, and cultural awareness.
Custom Workbooks: vocabulary lists, grammar notes, and exercises I create for each course.
Interactive Quizzes & Flashcards: to help you memorize and use new words naturally.
Video Clips & Subtitles: so you can hear native speakers and copy their pronunciation.
Monthly Progress Notes: my personalized feedback based on your mistakes and achievements.
What is the lesson plan?
At home: You watch the episode/movie with subtitles, write down new words, and complete exercises.
At the lesson: We discuss what you watched, analyze dialogues, check your notes, practice vocabulary in conversation, and work on grammar.
What is your teaching style?
I’m an “algorithm person” — I love logic, structure, and clear systems that make learning simple.I’m friendly and talkative, and I use humor to make lessons enjoyable and relaxed.I listen carefully and treat mistakes as a natural part of learning — never something to be afraid of.I explain things in different ways until they make sense. My classes are never boring or repetitive — there’s always something new.I’m genuinely curious about people, our conversations feel natural, not forced.
What is your teaching approach?
Watch–Analyze–Practice method. You watch a movie or TV show, we discuss it together, analyze the dialogues, and then practice speaking. Mistakes are always corrected, and new words are learned in context so you never forget them.
I give you feedback in every lesson — I correct all mistakes right away and share my notes with you in a shared file, so you can always see your progress. We set clear goals and deadlines together — for example, finishing one movie in a set number of lessons — so you stay motivated and see results.I carefully choose movies and series that inspire you, so you enjoy the process. There’s no stress or overload — we follow my simple Watch → Analyze → Practice method, just like ballet training. You won’t get difficult or boring homework — only fun, film-based tasks. There’s no forced memorization — you learn words naturally using my custom glossaries with etymology and real-life examples. And we never use dry textbooks — only movie quotes and my visual grammar guide Secrets of Algorithm.
Who is this course for?
For anyone who loves movies, needs English for exams or work, or wants to restart learning and speak with confidence.
Can I choose a favorite show or movie not on the list of your courses?
Yes! You can suggest your own movie or series, and I will prepare all study materials for it.
Do I have to do homework?
Homework is highly recommended. I usually give small, practical tasks like watching a part of movie and write down new words to help you practice between lessons.
Can you help me with TOEFL, CAE, or IELTS?
Yes, I can! I have a list of carefully selected movies and TV shows that match common exam topics such as education, environment, technology, health, travel, and culture. We’ll use them to practice vocabulary, listening, and speaking. For best results, I recommend combining our lessons with a certified exam-preparation course at an official testing center.
How do we learn grammar?
I explain grammar using real dialogues from movies and TV shows, so every rule is connected to natural speech. In addition, I’ve created unique grammar guides: The Secrets of Algorithm and English Grammar with Toby the Cat.
What is your scope of expertise?

Blog WritingI run a personal blog on screenwriting and storytelling, sharing insights, tips, and real-life experiences.
What should I do to memorize the words from the movies?
Don’t worry it happens naturally! The same words and expressions repeat across episodes, so by the end of the first season you’ll remember about 80% of them without extra effort. And to make it even easier, I provide quizzes and custom glossaries that help you practice and lock in the vocabulary.
Do you correct mistakes in pronunciation and grammar when I speak at the lesson?
Yes! During the lesson, I write down every correction in a shared file that works like a whiteboard. You immediately see the correct spelling, grammar, or pronunciation. At the end of each month, I analyze this file, identify the mistakes you make most often, and prepare extra tasks to help you improve exactly where you need it.
I need to prepare for a job interview and only have time for a few lessons. Can you help me?
Yes, absolutely! I have special materials and carefully selected movies that help you practice interview vocabulary, common questions, and confident communication. Even a few lessons can make a big difference in how prepared you feel.
What are the rules for canceling or rescheduling a lesson?
If you have an emergency, you can always reschedule. Just let me know in advance. It’s much better to move a lesson than skip it, because language progress depends on regularity and timing.
Why is it important to watch a favorite show?
When students choose a movie or TV series they genuinely enjoy, they build an emotional connection with the characters and story. This motivation keeps them engaged and makes learning feel natural. Because films cover every possible topic — from lighthearted comedies to serious political dramas — there is always a perfect match for each learner.
What do you expect from a student?
The most important thing is that we’re on the same page, working together toward your progress.
Trust the process. Learning takes time, and I’ll guide you step by step.
Be open. If something doesn’t work for you, let me know. We can always change the TV show or adapt materials — your comfort is key.
Don’t compare. Everyone learns differently, and real progress doesn’t happen in just three months.
Do the homework. Without it, progress is impossible.
Follow the schedule. We can reschedule if you have an emergency, but regularity is essential for effective learning.
